Legendary Ku Ibiza Nightclub Chain Eyes Costa del Sol for Revival

The company responsible for the iconic Ku Ibiza nightclub chain is planning a revival in the heart of the Costa del Sol. The owners of the brand, once hailed as the world’s best nightclub in the 80s, are currently scouting for suitable locations in the Marbella area to breathe new life into the brand.

Active Search for Locations Underway for Summer Opening

The company, led by nightlife entrepreneur Santiago Llorens, is actively seeking potential locations with the aim of opening by next summer. Llorens has revealed that he has already engaged in discussions with various hotelier groups interested in bringing the project to fruition.

Adapting to Space: Nightclub, Beach Club or Restaurant

Llorens explained that the future Ku Marbella will adapt its form to the space they secure, which could potentially be a nightclub, a beach club, or even a restaurant. He mentioned that there have been talks with entrepreneurs interested in opening franchises using the brand in prime locations.

Marbella: An Ideal Location with One of the Best Audiences

Llorens views Marbella as the perfect location due to its “world-class audience” and the importance for any prestigious brand to have a presence in such iconic locations. Ku currently operates a venue in Benidorm. Ku Ibiza was once recognized as the world’s largest nightclub in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Experienced Nightlife Entrepreneur at the Helm

With over 25 years of experience in the nightlife industry, Llorens has been a franchisee for over a decade of the Pachá group, operating the Pachito nightclubs in the Olympic Port of Barcelona and in Terrassa Leisure Centre, as well as the Pachá nightclub in Maresme (Barcelona). He has also managed two of Spain’s most prominent clubs: Pachá Madrid and Joy Eslava Madrid.

Ku: Ibiza’s First Large-Format Discotheque

Ku was Ibiza’s first large-format discotheque and the memory of its endless nights still lingers on the island. Founded by three Basque entrepreneurs in 1978 in the San Rafael club, Ku embodied the spirit of freedom, spectacle, and transgression that defined the island’s wild years for over a decade.

World’s Largest Discotheque and Birthplace of Locomía

Throughout the 1980s, Ku was a leader in Spain’s nightlife culture, attracting visitors from across Spain and Europe. It was the birthplace of the famous group Locomía and hosted historic moments, such as the performance of the Barcelona Olympics anthem by Montserrat Caballé and Freddie Mercury. The club was renamed Privilege in 1990 and operated under this brand for over 25 years. The Ibizan pavilion is currently being renovated to accommodate the UNVRS nightclub, owned by the same proprietors as Ushuaïa and Hï Ibiza.
