Marbella’s First Public Care Home Still Under Construction

The construction of the elderly care home in the Trapiche del Prado area of Marbella is still ongoing, with no clear completion date in sight. The project, which was supposed to be completed in the last quarter of 2024, is still in the structural phase as of April 2025, indicating a significant delay.

10-Million-Euro Investment and Subsidy Issues

The town hall has invested 10 million euros in the project, which is set to be the first public care home in Marbella. However, an agreement between the municipal authorities and the regional government regarding the number of places to be subsidised by the Junta is yet to be reached.

Features of the Upcoming Care Home

Once completed, the care home will comprise two separate buildings with a total area of 4,400 square metres, capable of accommodating nearly a hundred residents. There is also potential for expansion with a third building, which would increase the capacity.

West Building: Administration and Common Areas

The western building will house the reception and visitor waiting area, management and administration offices, kitchen and dining room, laundry facilities, toilets, and staff changing rooms. It will also feature common areas and public toilets, a living room, a visitors’ room, specialised care areas, an infirmary, a control post, storage rooms, and waste treatment and disposal areas.

North Building: Residential Spaces

The northern building, spread over a surface area of 2,270 square metres, will consist of three floors above ground and a basement. The design of the project aims to create a homely atmosphere for the residents.
