Marbella’s 2025 Budget: A Record High of 414.2 Million Euros
Marbella’s Mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, unveiled the city’s general budget for 2025 on Friday, 8th November. The budget, which predicts a revenue of 414.2 million euros, is the highest in the city’s history. The Mayor, alongside finance councillor Félix Romero, also estimated the city’s expenses for the coming year to be around 405.2 million euros.
Increased Expenditure and Continued Public Investment
The 2025 budget shows an increase of 42 million euros in expenditure compared to 2024, marking an 11.57% rise. This increase not only demonstrates the financial capacity of the town council but also their ongoing commitment to public investment. The budget is primarily focused on social policies, aiming to support, strengthen, and expand them.
Investment and Infrastructure Development
The Mayor highlighted that the budget includes an investment of 41 million euros, two million more than the current financial year. This investment will fund various initiatives, including the construction of an underground car park at the Africa hostel and a surface sports area. The budget also allocates funds for road upgrades and the revitalisation of roads in San Pedro Alcántara. Additionally, funds have been set aside for the maintenance of beach plans, urban regeneration, schools, sports facilities, and green areas.
Boost for Sports and Health Sectors
In the sports sector, the Mayor announced an allocation of 6.5 million euros for various projects, including the construction of an athletics track and football pitch in Nueva Andalucía. The health sector will also see significant investment, with the completion of the Nueva Andalucía multi-purpose centre, which will provide the district with a new health centre.
Increased Funding for Social Projects
Social projects will receive a total of 10 million euros, marking a 15% increase from 2024. The home help service will see the most significant increase in funding, rising from 5.8 million euros to 7.1 million euros. The budget also continues to provide subsidies for non-profit organisations.
Record Revenue for Marbella in 2025
Marbella is set to break its own record in 2025, with the town’s economic activity generating additional resources. This economic boom has allowed for an increase in the budget while maintaining the majority of tax rebates. The town hall also expects to receive income from urban development projects and revenues derived from various corruption cases that took place in the town.
