Marbella City Council Forecasts 2.7% Growth Over Next Three Years
Felix Romero, the Finance Councilor and municipal spokesperson, unveiled the budget plan developed by the Marbella City Council on Tuesday. The plan anticipates a 2.7% growth over the next three years. By 2027, the accounts are expected to reach 390 million euros. The council has also requested a deferment of payment to the Regional Government of Andalusia.
Plan Developed with Rigor and Prudence
Romero stated that the budget plan is a document that has been prepared with great rigor and prudence to chart the course until 2027. A forecast of revenues and a projection of expenses have been made, based on the 2024 fiscal year. This demonstrates the financial health of the corporation to face future challenges. He added that these figures are compared with those of the Bank of Spain for the same period and, while not mandatory, they establish the medium-term path to follow.

New Payment Conditions Included
Romero highlighted that the plan includes the new conditions of the repayable advance payment agreed with the Regional Government of Andalusia. This extends the repayment period until 2047 and reduces the interest rate to 1%. He failed to mention that this is a necessary condition for the Ministry of Finance to approve the adjustment plan and grant the new 18 million euro loan requested from the Order Fund.
Green Light for Three-Year Deferment Request
Romero also announced that approval has been given today for the request for a three-year deferment for repayment to the Regional Government. He detailed that this planning envisages a growth of 3.2% for 2025 and 2.5% for 2026 and 2027 without the need to resort to any external administration. This means that the budget could increase annually by 10 million euros without compromising economic stability.
Financing Capacity Could Reach 390 Million Euros by 2027
The councilor specified that the financing capacity would allow us to reach 390 million euros for the municipal accounts in 2027. He described the document as realistic and explained that it was prepared by the national officers of the budget management area. Once approved, it will be sent to the Ministry of Finance and other control bodies.
