Marbella’s Jesús Ríos Wins First Race in Barcelona
Jesús Ríos, a native of Marbella, emerged as the winner in the first race in Barcelona. This was the third round of the FIM Junior GP World Championship, which, after passing through Italy and Portugal, arrived in Spain this weekend at the Barcelona-Catalonia Circuit. Ríos won the first race, but unfortunately fell in the second. He lost his temporary lead, but still holds the second position.
Ríos’ Performance in the Championship
After winning the first two races in Italy, Jesús Ríos failed to score in Portugal. However, he has now returned to the podium in Barcelona with a victory. Therefore, out of the five races now contested in the Junior GP World Championship, the Marbella rider has won three.
Disparate Results at the Catalonia Circuit
At the Catalonia Circuit this weekend, two races were held with mixed results for Ríos. In the first race, he started from the eighth position on the starting grid and gradually moved up to join the leading group, overtaking his rivals on the last lap. This was a great victory for the Marbella native, his third of the season, after another thrilling race. He was joined on an all-Spanish podium by Marcos Uriarte (2nd) and Adrián Cruces (3rd).
Difficult Second Race for Ríos
In the second race, Ríos struggled to reach the top positions and fell on the last lap. Another Spaniard, Álvaro Carpe, won the race.
Current Standings in the Junior GP World Championship
The Junior GP World Championship standings, which Jesús Ríos led for two rounds, are now headed by Marcos Uriarte with 82 points. Ríos is in second place with 75 points, and Italian Alessandro Morosi is third with 71 points.
