The latest edition of the Half Marathon has concluded, and a new edition is set to take place in Marbella on September 29. The event has seen a decline in participation over the years, and the organizers are making efforts to revive it. The goal for this season is to reach a thousand participants, and various initiatives and discounts have been launched to achieve this. The registration period begins today, March 1.
37th Edition of Marbella’s Half Marathon Aims to Revive Competition
The 37th edition of Marbella’s Half Marathon will take place on September 29, with the aim of reviving a competition that has declined in recent years. Various initiatives and discounts have been launched to make the competition as attractive as possible, which was once a benchmark in the municipality. The registration period opened today, March 1, and there will be an initial discount for local athletes, who can register for 10 euros during March and April. The first runners have already registered early this Friday.
Discounts and Registration Details for the Half Marathon
To benefit from the discount, athletes must be registered in the municipality and have an athlete’s card. From March 1 to April 15, the rest of the participants will pay 15 euros, so the discount for locals is 5 euros. From April 16 to May 31, the price increases to 20 euros, from June 1 to August 31 it will be 25 euros, and from September 1 to 25, when registration closes, the cost will be 30 euros. Registrations made before September 8, 2024, will have the name that the registered person has put in the “Alias dorsal” section of the registration form on the bib.
Relay Category and Special Recognition for Local Runners
Regarding the Relay category, participation will cost 50 euros until August 31 and 60 euros until the end of the period. This year’s race will feature a special category for local runners, both male and female, who will receive recognition in the first, second, and third place.
