New Record in Tourist Apartment Accommodations in Marbella
Following the record set in April, May has once again set a new record for the highest number of overnight stays in the historical series. According to data provided on Monday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), 100,724 overnight stays were recorded in tourist apartments during May in the municipality. This is a record in the historical series (since 2005) for this month, surpassing 100,000 for the first time after the 99,858 recorded in 2019, before the pandemic.
Most Overnight Stays by Foreign Tourists
The majority of the overnight stays were by foreign tourists (90,737), while Spanish tourists accounted for 9,987, a significant decrease compared to the previous year. Regarding the tourists who chose these non-hotel accommodations, there were 16,553, fewer than in the same month of 2022 and fewer than this past April. Therefore, there are fewer visitors, but they stay longer. The average stay is 6.08 days. The occupancy rate was 71%. According to the INE, it is estimated that the staff employed was 571 people.
