Support Service for Gender Violence Victims Receives Funding
The City Council and the Regional Government of Andalusia will provide the necessary funding over the next four years to maintain the Women’s Information Center (CIM). This comes after the signing of an agreement, with both entities contributing 50% of the total 840,000 euros required to ensure the operation of this service, which has been running since 1991.
Ensuring Comprehensive Care for Victims
Isabel Cintado, the Councilor for Equality, stated that the initiative will ensure the operation of the comprehensive care team. This team consists of the information department, the psychological care department, and the legal advice department. The funding was previously renewed annually since the establishment of the facility in 1991, but this agreement extends the term and provides greater stability.
Breakdown of Funding
The total amount comes to 840,000 euros, with the City Council contributing 420,000 euros and the Regional Government of Andalusia matching this amount. Cintado explained that the aim of the CIM is to facilitate women’s access to resources, campaigns, and workshops promoted through the delegation.
Empowering Women through Entrepreneurship and Business Management
Cintado highlighted a series of workshops that started today, involving around twenty students. These workshops aim to provide tools that empower women for entrepreneurship and business management. She also mentioned that the City Council has a specific employment guidance department that advises users to help them achieve economic independence, which many lack and which hinders them from leaving certain situations.
International Women’s Day Program
Lastly, Cintado announced that a program is being designed for International Women’s Day in March. This will include a new meeting of the Local Monitoring Table against Gender Violence on March 11.
Other Matters
Felix Romero, the municipal spokesperson, specified that at today’s Local Government Board meeting, three construction licenses were accounted for, with a total execution amount of 3 million euros. Additionally, two justifications for Culture Department grants were approved for the AMPA of José Manuel Vallés school and the Ignacio García-Valiño High Capacity Association.
