Marbella Athletes Kike Villanueva and Sara Dabrio Secure Podium Finishes

Marbella athletes Kike Villanueva (CD Vuelando) and Sara Dabrio (CEM Marbella) have managed to secure third place in the second round of the Andalusian Nordic Walking Cup held in Baena. Additionally, Francisco José Cruz from CEM, a Huelva-based athlete, claimed victory in the absolute category. Marbella continues to be a leading figure in the sport of Nordic Walking.

Marbella Clubs Participate in Andalusian Cup

This weekend, the two clubs from the municipality, CD Vuelando and CEM Marbella, participated in the second round of the Andalusian Cup held in Baena. The event, held in the Cordoba town, featured a course of over 11 kilometers around the Biosaludable Park of the city. The race, organized by the CD Media Legua de Baena, had a positive elevation gain of 225 meters.

Local Athletes Shine in the Competition

Local athletes Kike Villanueva and Sara Dabrio stood out, winning the bronze medal in the absolute category. Despite suffering an injury in the second round that prevented him from competing for the victory, Villanueva from CD Vuelando managed to reach the podium. He completed the course in 1h11:14. The victory in the men’s category went to Francisco José Cruz, who joined CEM Marbella this season. The Huelva runner finished with a time of 1h09:59. The second place went to Andrés Cumbreras (CD Multideporte Huelva).

Impressive Performance by Female Athletes

In the women’s category, Marbella’s Sara Dabrio ran an excellent race to finish third with a time of 1h21:49. The victory went to Aitana Conde from CD Multideporte Huelva (1h20:43), and the second place was taken by Inma Rosales from Orivip Team CS Tritón (1h21:19).

CEM Marbella Athletes Excel in Various Categories

CEM Marbella sent a total of 35 athletes to the Cordoba event, who also managed to reach the podium in various categories. Juan Carlos Cabello (senior), Lola Gallego (veteran B), and María Luisa Acuña (veteran D) claimed victories. Additionally, Óscar Rueda (veteran B) and Esther Muñoz (veteran B) won silver medals in their respective categories, while Patricia Cabello secured third place in the veteran C category.

Young Athletes Shine in the Competition

In the junior categories, CEM claimed victory in the cadet category with Lucas Gámez. Iris Morales secured second place also in cadets, while Alba Mera finished second in the alevin category. In the benjamin category, Sergio Mera secured third place.

Next Round of the Andalusian Cup

The next scoring round for the Andalusian Cup will be on April 13 in Almeria. However, this date may change as the Spanish Mountain Sports Federation has set April 14 as the Spanish Championship for Teams, making it impossible for both events to take place on the same weekend.
