Marbella Hosts 14th World Health Tourism Congress
Marbella is the proud host of the fourteenth World Health Tourism Congress (WHTC). The event, taking place at the town’s Palacio de Ferias y Congresos Adolfo Suárez, has attracted over 250 representatives from the health tourism sector.
Key Figures Attend the Inauguration
The inauguration of the event, held on Monday 17 February, was attended by Marbella’s Deputy Mayor, Félix Romero, and the General Director for the sector, Laura de Arce. The congress is set to run for two days, providing a platform for health companies from across Europe to connect with the largest corporate buyers of medical care from the Middle East, Africa, and Europe.

Romero highlighted Marbella’s significance in the health tourism sector, stating that the town offers an ideal mix of services and climate for medical or recovery stays. He also emphasized that the congress, being held in the town for the first time, presents a unique opportunity to foster synergies and business opportunities.
Networking Opportunities and Industry Insights
De Arce underscored the importance of the networking opportunities taking place during the event, with an average of 27 meetings planned for each operator. She stressed the need for Marbella to continue positioning itself in health tourism to attract individuals requiring medical treatment at any time of the year.

Ghassam Aridi, the conference organiser, expressed his gratitude to Marbella town hall for its support. He described Marbella as a luxury and health tourism destination. Aridi explained that the event brings together key investors, high-level corporate buyers, and suppliers specialising in health tourism. The congress also features conferences on the latest trends, challenges, and developments in the industry by internationally renowned professionals.
