Specsavers Ópticas Launches Summer Photography Contest for Youngsters
Specsavers Ópticas, a leading optical chain in Spain, is on the hunt for young, aspiring photographers aged between six and 17 years old. The company is encouraging these youngsters to capture the essence of their summer holidays through a photography competition. The aim is to encapsulate the joy and excitement of the holiday season in a single image.
Prizes and Recognition for Winning Entries
The competition will award the best photo in both junior and senior categories with a 50-euro Amazon voucher and a pair of sunglasses. The winning images will also gain exposure through social media and press releases. Entries can be submitted via social media or email from 1 July to 1 September.
Encouraging Outdoor Activities and Creativity
Nerea Galdos-Little from Specsavers Ópticas Marbella expressed the company’s desire to motivate youngsters to spend more time outdoors and improve their photography skills. She highlighted the benefits of outdoor activities, including protection against myopia and overall physical and mental health improvement. The competition aims to promote less screen time and more outdoor fun.
Submission and Judging Process
Participants can submit their photographs by tagging @SpecsaversOpticas on Facebook and @specsaversspain on Instagram, or by sending them via Messenger or email to spain.marketing@specsavers.com. A panel of three judges will review the entries and shortlist the top five from both junior and senior categories. These shortlisted entries will be posted on social media, and the ones with the most likes and comments in each age category will be declared the winners.
Sparking Creativity and Capturing Memories
One of the judges, Carrie Frais, director of the website MumAbroad, expressed her delight at being part of the competition. She emphasized the importance of encouraging children to take photos during their summer holidays, as it not only ignites their creativity but also helps them preserve memories. Photography allows them to view the world from different angles, develop storytelling skills, and create a visual diary of their adventures.
Eligibility and Competition Deadline
