More than a hundred swimmers took part in the inaugural Winter Crossing at El Cable Beach. Pablo Vallecillo emerged as the champion of the event this weekend. The athlete from Marbella Swimming Club, who won the overall competition swimming without a wetsuit, completed the 2,000-meter course in 24 minutes and 31 seconds.

In the women’s category, the fastest swimmer was Ana Cortés from CN Torremolinos, who swam with a wetsuit.

Event Rescheduled Due to Weather Conditions

The first Winter Crossing at El Cable Beach, initially scheduled for March 9, had to be postponed due to weather forecasts. The event finally took place this weekend, now in spring, but on a day marked by a drop in temperatures.

Change of Date Affects Participation

The change of date affected the number of participants, reducing from the initial 200 registered swimmers to 118 who took the plunge into the Mediterranean Sea this Sunday.

Pablo Vallecillo: The Absolute Winner

The overall victory of the event went to Pablo Vallecillo from CN Marbella, who managed to complete the 2,000-meter course in 24 minutes and 31 seconds, competing without a wetsuit.

Fastest Female Swimmer with Wetsuit: Ana Cortés

In the women’s category, the fastest swimmer was Ana Cortés from CN Torremolinos, who swam with a wetsuit.

In the men’s competition without a wetsuit, Pablo Vallecillo led the podium, followed by Mohammed Bakkali Kasmi (Jérez Máster) and Samuel Alaminos (CN Fuengirola). In the men’s category with a wetsuit, the winners were Sergio Banderas (CDN Inacua Málaga), Juan Sánchez (Independent), and Francisco García (CN Marbella). In the women’s competition with a wetsuit, the victory went to Ana Cortés, followed by Nyika Davies (CN Marbella) and Patricia García (CN Corcheros). In the women’s category without a wetsuit, the winner was Cristina Manzano (Independent), with Lucía González (CN Marbella) and Yolanda Jiménez (Real Club Náutico de Motril) joining her on the podium.
