Andalusian Championship to be Held in Nueva Alcántara This Weekend

The Andalusian Championship is set to take place this weekend in Nueva Alcántara. The event, which is the most significant team competition in the Andalusian Padel Federation’s calendar, will bring together the best players from the Andalusian community at the Nueva Alcántara Club.

Over 400 Athletes to Participate in the Championship

The Andalusian Championship for Absolute Teams of 1st and 2nd category will gather over 400 athletes, many of them professionals, at the Nueva Alcántara Club facilities. The competition was announced today by Juan Rosas, Vice President of the Malaga Provincial Council; Lisandro Vieytes, Marbella’s councilor; José Pérez, President of the FAP; and Pedro Cabral, the club’s general manager.

30 Teams from Across Andalusia to Compete

The competition, which will take place on Saturday and Sunday, will see the participation of 30 teams from all over Andalusia. “It’s a privilege for the city to host a top-level competition featuring around 30 teams, 16 in the 1st category and 14 in the 2nd, at a facility that has been recognized as the best in the world in this field,” said the councilor, while expressing gratitude for the support of the supra-municipal body.

Marbella Shines in the World of Sports

“Marbella shines on its own in the world of sports, and it’s a pleasure to accompany the municipality on this journey,” the deputy responded during the event. A refereeing team composed of Nayra Ramírez, Fabián Gelibter, José María Tejero, and Mari Paz Jiménez will oversee the championship, which, in addition to the title at stake, offers the incentive of the struggle for promotion and to avoid relegation from the top category.

Marbella: The Birthplace of Padel in Spain and Europe

“For the FAP, it’s a pleasure to be able to organize one of its most important competitions in Marbella, the birthplace of padel in Spain and Europe,” said the federation’s top official. “Moreover, we have the opportunity to do so at top-level facilities like those at Nueva Alcántara.”

Defending Champions and Aspiring Teams

In the men’s 1st category, Padel KD Jerez will defend the title they won in the last edition against the Cerrado del Águila club, which is the second seed this time. The first seed is Campus Padel Club Granada, bolstered by big names and aspiring to the title. In the women’s draw, the Padel La Volea Club, the current champion, aims to defend its title as the first seed. The second seed is the Oromana Tennis Club, while Prodigy Land ranks third by points. The finals are scheduled for 11:45 am on Sunday, preceded by the 2nd category finals at 10:30 am.
