An investigation is underway following a suspected hoax call to the Marbella Local Police control room on 092. The caller, a man, claimed to have shot his friend in the head and was covered in blood. The call was placed on Thursday 26 October around 6.26pm, with the man stating in English, “I’ve shot my friend in the head”. He claimed to have committed the act in room number 8 of a hostel located in central Marbella, and that his hands were stained with the victim’s blood.
Upon receiving the call, all available officers, including National Police teams, were immediately dispatched to the specified address. However, the hostel staff were taken aback as they had not heard any gunshots. The police proceeded to inspect room number 8, which was occupied by two tourists at the time, but found no evidence of a crime. The officers extended their search to several other hostels in the town but found nothing suspicious.
The call was traced back to the Balearic Islands, leading authorities to treat the report as a hoax. The caller used a prepaid card with an international number, according to police sources. The man’s identity remains unknown, but the investigation is ongoing.
