Marbella Residents Rally Against Proposed Nightclub
In the Nagüeles district of Marbella, located on the Costa del Sol, hundreds of residents are urging the local town hall to intervene in the construction of a nightclub in the former Aresbank building. The community of Marbellamar, the residential area where the nightclub is proposed to be built, has submitted a letter to the town hall seeking assistance and highlighting the urban planning issues associated with the premises.
Preserving Peace in Marbella
Carmen Mateo, a local resident, expressed concerns that the nightclub would disrupt the tranquility of one of Marbella’s most peaceful and family-friendly urban areas. She emphasized that the residents do not want a repeat of the Puerto Banús situation in the heart of Marbella. Another resident, José María Tirado, raised concerns about the potential noise disturbance, particularly for those who have to work the next day. He criticized the council for not considering the potential impact and argued against granting a license to such businesses.
Residents Ready to Fight
Residents of Marbellamar, Las Cañas, Casa Blanca, and La Carolina have pledged to take all necessary measures to prevent the nightclub from opening. The Marbellamar owners’ association stated that the economic and touristic development of Marbella should not compromise the peaceful coexistence of its citizens or infringe upon their rights to a peaceful family life.
Town Hall Responds
In response to the residents’ concerns, the town hall has assured that it will enforce the law and demand that all requirements are met to ensure that the proposed hotel and catering activity in the area is environmentally sustainable. The town hall also promised to mediate between the residents and the establishment, as it does with all the city’s hotels and restaurants, while respecting the legal framework. The town hall further stated that it has already conducted two inspection reports and has been monitoring the situation.
