Marbella Town Hall Announces Major Renovation of Public Toilets
Marbella’s local government has unveiled plans to refurbish the public restrooms along the town’s coastline. The project, which will cost approximately 1.2 million euros, involves the installation of 31 new modular units.
Boosting Facilities and Enhancing Tourism
Diego López, the Councillor for beaches, has shared that the initiative is backed by the Junta de Andalucía. The plan aims to increase the total number of these facilities to 40 by the end of the current term. López emphasized that the project will ensure a modern, accessible, and sustainable service for both locals and tourists, reflecting the government’s dedication to maintaining high standards in tourism.
Improvements to Begin Next Week
The project is set to commence next week with the necessary adaptation work. López highlighted that the initiative will not only increase the number of restrooms along the beaches and promenade but will also enhance the regularity of cleaning and maintenance. This will ensure that the facilities remain in excellent condition throughout the season. The investment will also free up additional space on the beach.
Uniform Design and High-Quality Standards
The mayor has confirmed that all the facilities will be installed this year, with the majority ready before the summer season. The new units will maintain a consistent design, reflecting the quality standards expected of a location like Marbella. Each 20 square meter modular unit will be constructed with materials resistant to the marine environment and vandalism.
Advanced Features for Comfort and Safety
Each unit will feature three individual toilets, including one adapted for individuals with reduced mobility. The units will also include safety features such as an emergency call button, alarm, and reset button. Additional amenities include three washbasins, nappy changing facilities, and anti-vandalism features like safety mirrors, soap dispensers, and hand dryers. The units will also be automated, programmed to unlock and lock at specific times.
Energy-Efficient and Environmentally Friendly
The new facilities will be equipped with photovoltaic panels for energy autonomy, indoor and outdoor lighting, 24-hour surveillance cameras, and LED lighting with motion detectors to optimize electricity consumption. López concluded by stating that this project will enhance the quality of services on Marbella’s coastline and reaffirms the commitment of the local and Andalusian government to a sustainable and accessible tourism model. With this investment, Marbella continues to lead in public infrastructure, providing residents and tourists with modern, safe, and environmentally friendly facilities.
