Marbella FC to Face Getafe B in First Round of Ascension to 1st RFEF
Marbella FC is set to begin its journey towards promotion to the 1st RFEF by facing off against Getafe B. This is a convenient match-up for Marbella FC as it avoids more distant destinations, but it will have to contend with one of the most in-form teams in the category. The draw took place this morning at the headquarters of the Spanish Football Federation.
Marbella FC’s Road to Ascension Begins
The die has been cast and Marbella FC now knows its first opponent on the road to promotion to the 1st RFEF. The white team will face Getafe B, which has ended the season in good form and as one of the most competitive teams in the category. The Madrid team had an irregular start to the season, which led to a change of coach on matchday 11. The team was then led by former Atletico Madrid player, Gabi. This change proved beneficial for the team, which improved over time, but it wasn’t until the penultimate matchday of the championship when they first entered the playoff positions. They eventually finished fourth in Group V.
Getafe B’s Season Overview
As usual, the Getafe B team is filled with young players, but with a couple of veteran players such as goalkeeper Josele and forward Javi Carbonell. Getafe B has spent a total of eight seasons in the Second Division B, losing the category in the 2020/21 season, just like Marbella FC. Both teams have had similar trajectories, with Getafe B also being a recent promotion from the 3rd RFEF last season.
Previous Encounters and Upcoming Matches
In the 2010/11 season, a Marbella forward shone in the Getafe B team in the Second Division B. Rudy Manso played a total of 26 matches and ended up as the team’s top scorer with nine goals. The Marbella forward even made his debut in a friendly match with the first team under the direction of Míchel.
In other third and fourth place duels, Utebo will face Numancia, while Orihuela will play against Badalona Futur. Guijuelo will start against UD Logroñés and Sant Andreu and Zamora complete these rounds. The rest of the rounds will pit teams that have qualified in second and fifth position. Betis Deportivo will play against Europa, while Lleida will face Yeclano Deportivo. Rayo Cantabria will face Sanse, Atlético Paso will play against Barakaldo, and Deportivo Aragón will play against Pontevedra.
