Marbella Town Hall Embarks on Road Safety Improvement Projects
Marbella’s local government is undertaking a series of initiatives along a three-kilometre stretch of the Ronda road in San Pedro Alcántara. The primary objective of these projects is to enhance safety measures in the area, which includes improving driver visibility and reducing the frequency of accidents on this busy road, according to Deputy Mayor Javier García.
Deputy Mayor García Highlights Key Projects
During a recent visit to the area, García highlighted some of the key projects being undertaken. Among these is the resurfacing of a 14,500 square metre area, equivalent to a 1.5-kilometre stretch of the road. Furthermore, the town hall is also in the process of installing solar-powered street lighting in three phases. The first phase, which involves the installation of 25 streetlights, has already commenced, and the subsequent phases will see the addition of 75 new lights in the area.
Investment and Future Plans for the Ronda Road
García also mentioned that the town hall has recently entered into an agreement with the Junta de Andalucía for the transfer of this section of the road. The project is set to receive an investment of 483,000 euros. Looking ahead, García hinted at a future project aimed at providing a long-term solution to the area’s traffic issues. This includes plans to widen the Carretera de Ronda, a project that will incorporate two lanes in each direction and a pavement, which will help alleviate traffic congestion and better integrate this crossing into the town.
