San Pedro Alcántara Promenade Undergoes Major Improvement Works
The initial phase of the San Pedro Alcántara promenade enhancement project has commenced. Deputy Mayor Javier García announced that the project will impact 11 beach access points, refurbish 200 square metres of pavement, and improve 60 metres of ramps. The objective is not only to ensure pedestrian mobility and safety but also to enhance the aesthetic appeal of one of the town’s key recreational spaces.
Project Budget and Details
The project has been allocated a budget of 70,000 euros. García revealed that the promenade initially had 300 metres of footbridge with spotlights embedded in the timber, which were unfortunately stolen. As a solution, the installation of 16 solar technology streetlights has been proposed. These lights do not require any wiring and offer significant energy savings.
Future Plans for the Promenade
In addition to the current improvements, there are plans to replace the handrails at various beach access points within the year. García emphasized the importance of the promenade, describing it as one of the town’s crown jewels that requires ongoing conservation and maintenance.
Next Project on the Horizon
García also shared plans for the next project, which includes installing solar lighting along the coastal path connecting Guadaiza and Ventura del Mar. This project is part of the town’s ongoing efforts to enhance its public spaces and promote sustainable energy solutions.
