On Sunday, 12 November 2023, two middle-aged men were arrested by the National Police in Barcelona for their alleged involvement in three violent robberies and for being part of a criminal organization. The arrests were linked to the theft of three luxury watches in Marbella and Ibiza.
According to a statement from the National Police, a luxury watch worth 20,000 euros was stolen in Ibiza on 8 October using a common criminal tactic. The suspects would approach the victim pretending to be beggars and then use force to commit the theft.
The National Police’s serious crime unit in Ibiza traced a vehicle connected to the incident and identified two out of the three individuals inside. The investigation revealed that the alleged culprits left Ibiza the following day on a boat headed for Barcelona. Evidence indicated that one of the suspects had participated in two similar thefts in Marbella a few months prior.
The two men, both of Moroccan origin, were apprehended in Barcelona. They are now facing criminal charges for their involvement in a nomadic gang that specializes in stealing luxury watches across Spain, according to the police.
