Renovation Works Underway at San Pedro Alcántara’s Seafront Promenade
The Marbella City Council announced on Monday that it has begun the first phase of improvements at the San Pedro Alcántara Seafront Promenade. The project includes the renovation of the eleven beach access points. The budget for this phase, as detailed by Deputy Mayor Javier García, is 70,000 euros.
Solar Lighting to be Installed in the Next Phase
Following the initial improvements, solar-powered lighting will be installed. Deputy Mayor Javier García explained that this intervention will remodel more than 200 square meters of flooring and 60 linear meters of ramps. The aim is not only to ensure pedestrian mobility and safety but also to beautify one of the city’s most important recreational spaces.
Conservation and Maintenance of the Seafront Promenade
García, who confirmed that the execution budget amounts to 70,000 euros, pointed out that over time, these platforms and viewpoints, finished in white marble, have deteriorated and pose a risk to the safety of coastal users. “The seafront promenade is one of the city’s crown jewels,” the municipal official affirmed, emphasizing the need for ongoing conservation and maintenance work.
Upcoming Project: Solar Lighting Installation
García also revealed that the next project will involve the installation of solar lighting along the coastal path that connects Guadaiza and Ventura del Mar. “These are 300 linear meters of walkway that initially had embedded spotlights in the wood, but these were stolen,” he said. As an alternative solution, the installation of 16 solar-powered street lamps, which do not require wiring and offer significant energy savings, has been proposed.
Replacement of Railings at Beach Access Points
Finally, it is planned to replace the railings at the various beach access points in San Pedro Alcántara during this fiscal year.
