San Pedro Alcantará’s Pruning Plan to Manage 1,600 Trees in 2025
The town of San Pedro Alcantará is set to manage 1,600 trees throughout 2025 as part of a comprehensive pruning plan. The initiative, which kicked off last week with work on over 150 trees, aims to maintain the health of the plants, enhance the city’s aesthetics, and prevent incidents that could jeopardize pedestrian safety.
Deputy Mayor Javier García Outlines Objectives of the Pruning Plan
Deputy Mayor Javier García has outlined the objectives of the pruning plan. The initiative is being implemented by a specialized company that also conducts phytosanitary treatments. The plan has been allocated an annual budget of 120,000 euros, with the potential for an extension if necessary.
Work Begins on Main Streets, with More Areas to Follow
Work has already commenced on main streets such as Avenida de la Constitución. The plan will then extend to other roads and areas, including Pablo Ruiz Picasso, the streets of Fuente Nueva, the squares Mariano Díaz Alonso and Juan Macías, and the Avenida del Mediterráneo.
Five-Month Process to Include Work on 1,000 Palm Trees
According to García, the pruning process will span five months and will include work on 1,000 palm trees, primarily located on the Paseo Marítimo, and another 600 trees.
Emergency Action Undertaken in Calle Caravaca
The mayor also reported on an emergency action that was carried out in Calle Caravaca, adjacent to the municipal market and the San Pedro school. A tree had collapsed and had to be removed following a technical report. Another tree, whose roots posed a danger to pedestrians, was also removed.
