Child Rock Band from Marbella Makes History on La Voz Kids

Minuto y Medio, a rock band composed of children aged eight to 13, has made history as the first band of its kind to perform on Spain’s La Voz Kids talent show. The band members, all students of Rock Factory in San Pedro de Alcántara, Marbella, showcased their talent on the show, which is aired by Antena 3. This was confirmed by Rafael Reyes, the director of the music school.

Youngest Professional Drummer in the World

Among the band members is David García, who became one of the youngest professional drummers in the world at the tender age of eight. He achieved this feat by earning the highest degree at Trinity College of Music in London. The band had its first auditions on the programme two weeks ago and recently, on 29th April, they were invited to meet the mayor of Marbella, Ángeles Muñoz.

Marbella’s Young Ambassadors

Mayor Muñoz praised the young musicians, stating that they are a testament to the talent present in Marbella. She expressed her belief that their participation in the show would make them excellent ambassadors for the town at a national level. The young musicians expressed their gratitude to the mayor for her support and shared their exciting and positive experience on La Voz Kids, which is currently in the audition phase.

Impressive Performances and Coach Choices

The band performed Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good” and were a hit among all the coaches. However, they chose to join the team of Spanish singer David Bisbal. Twelve-year-old Astrid Verweij, who performed Rocío Dúrcal’s “Se Me Olvidó Otra Vez”, chose Lola Índigo as her coach after impressing judges Rosario and Melendi. Astrid, a student at Aloha College, is also passionate about fashion.

International Talent on Display

Fourteen-year-old Vera Lukash, originally from Russia, wowed the judges with her rendition of Lara Fabian’s French song “Je T’aime”. She is now part of Melendi’s team. Vera, who moved to Spain when she was just three years old, is also passionate about skiing and dancing.
