Young Duo in Critical Condition Following Marbella Traffic Accident
Two young individuals, a 19-year-old male and a 24-year-old female, are currently in critical condition in the intensive care units of two Costa del Sol hospitals. This follows a severe traffic accident that occurred in the early hours of October 7th. The car they were in collided at high speed with a stationary cleaning lorry in the heart of Marbella, as confirmed by multiple sources to SUR.
Details of the Tragic Incident
The accident took place around 4:45 am on Avenida Ramón y Cajal. The car, carrying five young passengers, crashed into a cleaning vehicle that was parked and performing a sweeping operation. The collision was so severe that the car was virtually demolished. All the occupants had to be extricated by the fire brigade, as per sources.
Victims Rushed to Local Hospitals
Four of the young passengers, including the 24-year-old driver, were rushed to the Hospital Costa del Sol in Marbella. The driver is currently in a serious condition in the intensive care unit. Another passenger, a 19-year-old male, was later transferred from this facility to the Hospital Regional Universitario in Malaga city – previously known as the Carlos Haya. He was admitted to the neurology department and his condition remains critical two weeks post-accident.
Investigation into the Accident Continues
The police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident. While initial findings suggest that speeding may have been a factor, officers are also exploring other potential contributing factors that could have led to the crash.
