Police Raid at Marbella Padel Club Leads to Three Arrests
On the morning of Thursday, 9th May, the National Police conducted a significant operation both by land and air at a padel club in Marbella, resulting in the arrest of three individuals. The operation took place at the Real Club de Pádel de Marbella, a popular sports complex located in the Altos del Rodeo residential development, near Nueva Andalucía.
Surprise Operation Causes Stir Among Club Users
The operation began when three National Police vans arrived at the entrance of the club’s car park. Officers in riot gear disembarked from the vehicles and proceeded to move through the club’s facilities, much to the surprise of the club users who were engaged in various sports and physical activities at the time. The unexpected police presence caused a stir both within the club and in the surrounding Nueva Andalucía area.
Helicopter Support Adds to the Drama
Adding to the spectacle, the National Police also deployed a helicopter, which hovered over the area while the operation was underway. Despite the dramatic scene, sources clarified that this was a routine action, not a result of an ongoing investigation. The three arrests made were reportedly for minor or administrative matters.
Recent Police Actions Part of the ‘Marbella Plan’
This operation follows a similar deployment carried out by the National Police last weekend, involving members of the force’s Intervention Unit (UIP, a rapid action group), at several entertainment venues in Puerto Banús, Marbella. These actions are part of the ‘Marbella Plan’, a police initiative aimed at increasing the uniformed presence in the Costa del Sol town following recent shootings and the resulting public concern.
