Umbrellas Out Again in Marbella as Storm Karlotta Approaches

The Spanish State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has announced the arrival of a significant storm, named Karlotta, which will bring wind, sea storms, and rain to the Peninsula. In Marbella, significant rainfall is expected, particularly on Friday, although it is not anticipated to alleviate the ongoing drought.

Change in Weather Pattern After Weeks of Stability

After several weeks of stable weather, the high-pressure block is beginning to weaken, allowing for atmospheric disturbances. As early as Wednesday, a significant Atlantic storm named “Karlotta” will approach the Peninsula. In the following days, its associated fronts will lead to an episode of intense wind, sea storms, and rainfall.

Storm Karlotta to Enter Through Galicia and Spread Across the Peninsula

The storm will begin to enter through Galicia late on Wednesday and will spread across the entire Peninsula, resulting in widespread rain by Friday. The situation is expected to stabilize by Saturday, marking a short-lived episode of rainfall.

Marbella Braces for Rain and Strong Winds

In Marbella, rain is expected to start on Thursday and intensify on Friday, when the most significant showers are anticipated. Strong winds are also expected, particularly on Friday, with potentially very strong gusts from the west.

Weekend Rainfall Expected, But Drought Relief Unlikely

Rain is also forecasted for Saturday and Sunday, although the situation is expected to gradually stabilize. Despite the intensity of the expected rainfall, it is not anticipated to significantly alleviate the drought situation. However, it may help to slow down the decline of the Concepción reservoir, as was the case with the last rainfall.
