Marbella Nightlife Queen Olivia Valere Passes Away at 75
Olivia Valere, a prominent figure in Marbella’s nightlife scene, has passed away at the age of 75. The French entrepreneur had been battling stomach cancer for the past year. Her health deteriorated significantly two weeks ago, leading to her transfer to Paris.
A Stalwart of Marbella’s Party Scene
Valere was a well-known personality in Marbella’s party scene. Her eponymous club was a popular spot for numerous A-list celebrities over the years. Notable figures such as Sean Connery, Prince, and Julio Iglesias were among the club’s patrons. The news of her passing led to an outpouring of tributes, with many expressing their deep respect and admiration for Valere.
From PR to Nightclub Owner
Before becoming a nightclub owner, Valere worked in public relations for the French Senate in her 20s. She opened her first nightclub in Paris in 1981. After her first visit to Marbella, she fell in love with the city and decided to open the Olivia Valere club in Puerto Banus in 2000. The club quickly became a VIP hotspot during Marbella’s ‘golden age’.
Survived by Her Husband and Three Children
Valere is survived by her husband Philippe Valere, a lawyer she was married to for fifty years, and her three children, Karen, Arnaud, and Xavier. She once expressed her love for Marbella in an interview with El Pais, stating that everyone who visits Marbella dreams of returning because life is easy and the sun shines every morning.
