Gypsy Company’s New Musical Premieres in Marbella
The José Pernía Calderón Auditorium in Marbella’s Constitution Park will host the premiere of ‘Once Upon a Time in the Forest’, the new musical by local troupe Gypsy Company, this weekend. This is the second production by the company, following their successful debut with “Cabaret”. The new show draws inspiration from the well-known classic tales of the Grimm Brothers.
Performance Details and Presentation
The show, scheduled for the 19th and 20th, Saturday and Sunday, starting at 10:00 PM, was introduced today by the General Director of Culture, Carmen Díaz; stage director Lydia Aviméz, and actors Samuel Caro, Mercedes Gener, Ana Domínguez, and Ángela Espada. Díaz expressed pride in the fact that a production company, largely composed of artists and technical staff from the municipality, is creating and showcasing art throughout Spain.
Success of Previous Production and Expectations for the New Show
Díaz recalled the company’s debut a year ago with ‘Cabaret’, a high-quality proposal that was well received on their national tour. She expressed confidence that the company will replicate this success with a format that, this time, is aimed at a family audience.
Objective and Inspiration for the New Production
Lydia Aviméz stated that it is a great honor to premiere this second production in Marbella, as their goal is to promote the municipality as a cultural hub. She is confident that the city has the talent and tools necessary to achieve this. She explained that the musical is inspired by Grimm Brothers’ classic tales such as ‘Little Red Riding Hood’, ‘Hansel and Gretel’, ‘Rapunzel’, and ‘Cinderella’, but with a more modern vision adapted to our times for both adults and children to enjoy.

Aviméz also revealed that after the show, children who wish to do so can take photos with their favorite characters. Tickets, priced at 15 euros, can be purchased at the auditorium box office or through mientrada.net.
Gypsy Company’s Previous Production
On September 16 of last year, the company premiered “Cabaret” at the municipal theater of Marbella, their first musical.
