Marbella’s Investment Boom Continues in 2025
The year 2025 has seen a continued surge in investment in Marbella, with the town council approving building permits worth 31.6 million euros in January alone. This figure mirrors the data from 2024, when the annual investment nearly hit 315 million euros, reinforcing Marbella’s status as a prime real estate hotspot. Among the permits granted was one for the final phase of the refurbishment of the Hotel Los Monteros, underscoring the significance of upgrading tourist accommodations in Marbella. Over the past five years, approximately twenty properties have undergone renovations, enhancing the overall quality of the destination. Urban development not only impacts the municipal coffers through activity-related taxes but also through the transfers required by property owners.
Marbella’s 2025 Budget to Benefit from Urban Development

Las Chapas: A Hub of Activity and Development
A local government meeting was held at the mayor’s office in Marbella’s Las Chapas neighbourhood on 27 January. The governing team provided updates on the agreements reached and other district-related matters. In terms of urban planning licences, approximately one thousand have been processed in the past nine months, according to the district’s general director, Carlos Alcalá.
Las Chapas: Facilitating Services and Improvements
Alcalá noted that Las Chapas offers numerous services, including those related to industry and public roads, with an annual average of 300 to 400 requests. Over the past nine months, the district has facilitated the processing of over 350 issues. Alcalá also highlighted the enhancements to the new health centre, the upcoming opening of the municipal swimming pool, the creation of several kilometres of coastal path, and the cleaning of local streams.
Investment in Infrastructure and Urban Development
An investment of 120,000 euros is earmarked for the improvement of the Mairena road. Additionally, a budget exceeding 10 million euros has been allocated for upgrading the drainage system in the residential areas of El Rosario, Costa Bella and Hacienda de Las Chapas. This will facilitate better urban development in these areas, where the demand for building permits continues to rise.
