West Entrance to San Pedro Alcántara Tunnel to Undergo Construction
The Government Sub-delegation in Malaga has announced that traffic will be affected due to construction work at the San Pedro Alcántara tunnel. The construction, aimed at improving the emergency exits, will take place during the night and will reduce traffic to one lane in each direction under the boulevard.
Construction Schedule and Traffic Impact
The construction work, which will ensure the safety of workers and users, will affect traffic during the night between March 18 and June 26, excluding the Holy Week (March 22 to 31). Both lanes, towards Cadiz and Barcelona, will experience left lane closures during the night, leaving the right lane open for traffic.
Construction Timings and Restrictions
These restrictions will occur on Mondays, between 00:00 hours (Sunday nights) and 07:00 hours, and until Friday between 21:00 hours of one day and 07:00 hours of the next. During the day, from 7 in the morning until 9 at night, there will be no closures, as well as on weekends, with traffic being restored from 07:00 hours on Fridays.
No Traffic Disruptions During Holy Week
During the Holy Week, there will be no traffic disruptions, with normal traffic resuming from 07:00 hours on Friday, March 22 until 00:00 hours on Monday, April 1 (Sunday night, March 31).
No Alternative Routes Available
The Sub-delegation points out that, given the characteristics of the A-7 highway in this area, it is not possible to enable alternative routes during the construction. The construction work is being carried out by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility of the Government of Spain.
