Marbella’s Hotel Industry Tourism Sees a Rise in November, Yet Lower Than Previous Years
The month of November saw an increase in hotel tourists and overnight stays in the municipality of Marbella compared to the same month in 2022. However, both figures are lower than those of 2021 and 2019. The arrival of foreign visitors supports these numbers, with an occupancy rate of 54.50%, similar to last year, but also lower than in 2021.
Positive Trend in Hotel Visitors, But Lower Than Pre-Pandemic Levels
The data reflects a positive trend in the number of visitors staying in hotels, although it does not reach the figures of 2021 or even those of the last year prior to the pandemic, 2019. The Hotel Occupancy Survey (EOH) from the National Institute of Statistics (INE) for November generally shows good data compared to 2022. It was a month with good weather and quite high temperatures, which facilitated, above all, the arrival of foreigners.
Marbella Welcomes Over 33,000 Hotel Visitors in November
According to the INE, Marbella received 33,400 visitors who stayed in hotels in November, which is 2,280 more than last year (+7.32%). Despite this, the figure is lower than that of 2021, when 36,639 tourists arrived, which is the record for this month, and it is also lower than that of 2019 (34,144). The arrival of foreigners (24,790) increased compared to 2022 (+3,333), although the number of nationals (8,610) slightly decreased (-1,053).
Over 111,000 Overnight Stays Recorded in November
Last November, 111,485 overnight stays were recorded in Marbella, which is 5,770 more hotel nights than last year, with a growth of 5.45%. However, this figure is far from the record set in 2016 with 119,074 stays and also below 2021 (113,599) and 2019 (112,801). The occupancy rate per room was 54.30%, similar to last year (54.33%), but below the record of 2021 (58.67%). In November, according to the INE, 57 establishments were open, eleven less than in the same month of 2022. Revenue and Room Prices Increase in Marbella’s Hotel Industry, But Employment Decreases
The revenue per available room (RevPar) in October was 93.81 euros, compared to 78.47 euros in 2022. The average price of a room in Marbella’s establishments set a new record with 173.92 euros per room, compared to 157.63 euros last year or 97.65 euros in 2019.
