San Pedro Alcántara is set to host its ‘Día del Pedal’ (Pedal Day) on 26 November. The event aims to encourage cycling and promote environmental sustainability. Deputy Mayor Javier García and Sports Councillor Lisandro Vieytes announced the event on 20 November, stating that it will commence at 11am from Plaza de la Iglesia and conclude at La Salida beach. Registration for the event will begin at 9am at the plaza and is free of charge. Participants are requested to bring a plastic container for recycling.
García mentioned that the event has become a tradition in San Pedro and they hope to establish a link between physical activity and environmental sustainability, as cycling is an eco-friendly mode of transport. He also mentioned that awards will be given to the oldest and youngest participants, the most original, and the oldest bicycle. There will also be a prize draw.
Vieytes added that all registrants will receive a welcome pack, including a commemorative T-shirt. He emphasized that ‘Día del Pedal’ is not a formal competition, but a chance to enjoy cycling as a family. He assured that the route will be easy and enjoyable.
