Marbella Pilot Jesús Ríos Competes at Estoril Circuit
Marbella-born pilot Jesús Ríos competed this Sunday at the Estoril Circuit, as part of the FIM Junior GP World Championship. Despite winning the first two races in Italy, Ríos failed to score points in the second round of the championship. He started third on the grid, but his choice of tires did not favor him on the Estoril circuit, which ended up being dry. Nevertheless, he continues to lead the World Championship, with several pilots closing in on him.
Second Day of FIM Junior GP World Championship at Estoril
The second day of the FIM Junior GP World Championship took place this weekend at the Portuguese circuit of Estoril, with only one race in the top category. Rain was a significant factor, although it stopped about an hour before the start of the Junior GP race and much of the track had dried by the time the pilots were selecting their tires.
Ríos and O’Gorman Opt for Wet Tires
Marbella’s Jesús Ríos and Irishman Casey James O’Gorman were among the top qualifying pilots who chose to use at least one wet tire. In the end, those who had opted for slick tires both front and back were the first to cross the finish line.
Finland’s Nico Salmela Dominates the Race
The race was dominated by Finnish pilot Nico Salmela, followed by Spain’s Marcos Uriarte and New Zealander Cormac Buchanan. Jesús Ríos, who started third on the starting grid, finished in 26th position, out of the points, but still maintains the lead in the overall standings, with the chasing pilots now closer.
Next Stop: Barcelona-Cataluña Circuit
The next challenge will be at the Barcelona-Cataluña circuit, where two races will be held as part of the Junior GP World Championship on the weekend of May 18 and 19.
