New Coastal Promenade Stretch Unveiled in Marbella
Marbella City Council has announced the opening of a new section of its coastal promenade. The newly developed stretch, which spans nearly 200 metres, is located between Avenidas Jardines de las Golondrinas and del Naviero. The unveiling was attended by Mayor Angeles Muñoz and Works councillor Diego Lopez.
Objective to Unite 27 Kilometres of Municipality
The Mayor and the Works councillor expressed their satisfaction with the progress of the project. They stated that the new development is a step towards their goal of connecting the 27 kilometres of the municipality during their legislative term. The general director of the district, Carlos Alcala, was also present at the event.
Footbridge Links Two Roads
The two roads have been connected by a 173-metre-long footbridge. The footbridge was constructed using natural materials and designed to have minimal impact on the area’s ecosystems. The walkway is four metres wide and features rest spaces every 50 metres, according to Diego Lopez.
Improvements to Beach Access and Water Supply
The project also included the enhancement of beach access and the installation of a drinking water pipeline for future connections to other supplies. The pipeline will ensure a steady supply of drinking water to the area.
Public Street Lighting and Amenities Enhanced
The development has seen improvements to public street lighting with the installation of new energy-efficient units. Additional amenities such as benches, litter bins, and information boards have also been installed. Invasive vegetation was removed to protect the native ecosystem.
23 Kilometres of Coastline Now Linked
With the completion of this new section, 23 kilometres of the coastline are now connected. The aim is to encourage pedestrian walks from population centres and housing estates to the beaches, stated Angeles Muñoz.
