58th Gender Violence Monitoring Table in Marbella
The Equality Delegation in Marbella has handled a total of 792 inquiries in the past four months, with 16.5 percent of them related to gender violence. This is a slight increase from the same period last year, which stood at 15.5 percent. Currently, 280 women in the municipality are under protection, with none of them at extreme risk.
Details Disclosed at the Local Monitoring Table
These figures were disclosed during the 58th Local Monitoring Table on this issue, held at the Cortijo Miraflores Cultural Center. Since the previous meeting held on November 16, 2023, the department that has received the most attention is Information (34.9%), followed by Job Guidance (30%), Psychological Care (18%), and Legal (17%).
First-time Visitors and Immigrant Women
Out of the total inquiries, 71 were from women visiting the delegation for the first time. It was also specified that out of the nearly 800 inquiries, 52.9 percent were from immigrant women and 13.8 percent were related to gender violence.
Age Group and Active Insertion Income
The majority of the attention is given to the age group between 40 and 49 years. 21 percent of the inquiries are from victims of gender violence when processing the Active Insertion Income (RAI), and a dozen new tele-assistances have been managed.
Participation of the Head of the Unit Against Gender Violence
The Local Table also featured the participation of Amaya Martinez, the head of the Unit Against Gender Violence at the Government Sub-delegation in Malaga. She explained that there are currently about 280 victims in Marbella protected by the VioGén system, distributed between the National and Local Police, in perfect coordination. She also confirmed that there are currently no cases in the municipality at extreme risk.
Statement from the Coordinator of the Andalusian Women’s Institute
Remedios Cueto, the coordinator of the Andalusian Women’s Institute (IAM) in Malaga, stated that gender violence is a very difficult social scourge to completely eradicate, but all possible means, programs, and protocols are being implemented, such as a recent risk assessment protocol, to act ex officio based on the same.
