Government Representatives Highlight Investment Efforts in Marbella and San Pedro

Javier Salas, José Bernal, and Isabel Pérez held a press conference this morning. National Deputy Isabel Pérez and the Government’s Deputy in Malaga, Javier Salas, emphasized the Spanish Government’s investment efforts in Marbella and San Pedro. However, they accused the Junta of deliberately delaying the breakwater project for the municipality’s coast.

Press Conference Focuses on Beach Stabilization

During the press conference, which was held by the PSOE, one of the main topics was the stabilization of the municipality’s beaches. The latest information revealed that the breakwaters in Marbella and San Pedro Alcántara were at the end of the environmental processing stage. This morning, Javier Salas explained that everything is pending a report from the Junta de Andalucía.

Government’s Deputy Laments Lack of Collaboration

The Deputy expressed his disappointment at the lack of collaboration from the PP with the significant breakwater project. He stated that they have been waiting since September to undertake this crucial action. He added that as soon as the documentation is ready, they will proceed to tender the coastal stabilization projects for Marbella and San Pedro.

Government’s Investment in Business Projects

Javier Salas pointed out that the Government has allocated a total of 21.1 million euros in 2023 for ten business projects in the province of Malaga. These include the remodeling and creation of hotel infrastructures in Marbella, amounting to just over 8 million euros.

Government’s Investment in Beach Maintenance

In terms of beaches, Javier Salas highlighted that the Government is facing 2024 with the highest investment in history for beach maintenance and improvement. This includes 2 million euros allocated to the 14 coastal municipalities, an investment that will significantly impact Marbella and San Pedro and greatly contribute to the sustainability of their tourism industry.

Government’s Investment in Castle Wall Rehabilitation

Isabel Pérez highlighted the Government’s investment in the rehabilitation of the castle wall, contributing 75 percent of the total cost, which amounts to 420,817.53 euros. She pointed out that this action is particularly important as it involves rehabilitating our heritage, which is often unknown, and promoting cultural tourism in our city.

Government’s Response to Noise Pollution

Pérez also noted that the Government has responded to another demand from the residents of Marbella with a budget of 15.8 million euros to carry out works to eliminate noise on the highway. In total, Pérez stated, 28 acoustic screens will be installed, as part of a budget of 302 million euros for sustainability actions, energy efficiency, and noise reduction on the state road network.

Other Notable Actions

Other notable actions include the repair of 12 pedestrian walkways on the A-7, with a budget of 1.8 million; the rehabilitation of the highway surface with a budget of 6.1 million between Fuengirola and Marbella; as well as 20 million for the adaptation of the AP-7 tunnels between Marbella and Estepona. Lastly, she highlighted a budget of 3.7 million for the adaptation of the facilities of the Churriana and San Pedro Alcántara tunnels.
