San Pedro Hosts New Edition of Marbella City Triathlon
San Pedro welcomed a new edition of the Marbella City Triathlon. This Sunday, the latest edition of the Marbella City Duathlon was held, a senior version of the event that saw a total of 140 athletes compete across three stages of the competition.
Pablo López and Irene Alcaide Triumph in Marbella City Duathlon
The victory in the men’s category went to Pablo López of AD Sevilla, while in the women’s category, Irene Alcaide of Isbilya-Sloppy Joe’s took the top spot. The 23rd Marbella City Duathlon was held again this Sunday in the Nueva Alcántara area, a competition that brought together more than 140 athletes in the senior categories.
Details of the Marbella City Duathlon
The competition consisted of a 5,000-meter race on the San Pedro Promenade, a 20-kilometer bike ride, and another 2,500-meter run around the promenade. In the men’s category, Pablo López of AD Sevilla set a pace that allowed him to distance himself from the rest of the competitors throughout the race. He led from start to finish, clocking a final time of 55 minutes and 50 seconds.
Podium Finishers in the Marbella City Duathlon
The men’s podium was completed by José Miguel Jiménez of CT Tiburones de Estepona with a time of 57:08 and Daniel Aguirre of CD Playas de Puta Umbría with a final time of 57:10. In the women’s category, the victory went to Irene Alcaide of Isbilya-Sloppy Joe’s with a time of 1 hour, 4 minutes, and 10 seconds. María Narváez of X-Bike Nerja (1:04:17) and Ana María Rodríguez of Isbilya (1:04:28) completed the women’s podium.
Paraduathlon Categories and Team Competition Winners
In the paraduathlon categories, local Jorge Otalecu of the Serman Triathlon Marbella Group achieved victory in PTS7 with a time of 1:09:28. Antonio Franco of Triathlon Don Benito won in PTS5. In the team competition, the men’s category victory went to CT Tiburones de Estepona, followed by AD Sevilla and Montilla-Córdoba Triathlon. In the women’s category, the victory went to Isbilya-Sloppy Joe’s, followed by TriTrain4you Málaga.
