Javi Ontiveros to Leave Villarreal

Javi Ontiveros, a player for Villarreal, has confirmed that he will not be continuing with the team next season. After five seasons with the yellow team, marked by ups and downs, Ontiveros and Villarreal will part ways. The Marbella-born player is now considering his future, with interest from numerous teams in both England and Spain.

Ontiveros’ Journey with Villarreal

Five years after his arrival at Villarreal, Ontiveros and the yellow club will separate. The Marbella winger has not fully settled into the Villarreal team, where he arrived as one of the great promises of Spanish football from Malaga. In his first year at Villarreal, he played 30 matches, but almost always coming off the bench. This was followed by loans to Huesca, Osasuna, and Fuenlabrada, where his best form was never seen.

Ontiveros’ Performance in the Second Team

With the yellow subsidiary in the Second Division, the Castellón entity made room for him in the second team where, since the middle of last season, he has become the absolute reference of the team. Ontiveros is one of the most important players of the subsidiary this season, being the second top scorer with six goals and also providing four assists. He is also third in terms of minutes played.

Ontiveros’ Future Prospects

However, it is clear that a subsidiary is not enough incentive for a player who knows he is at a decisive moment in his career. At 26, he needs to make the definitive leap to confirm the potential he showed at the beginning. The Castellón club was not opposed to a possible renewal, but Ontiveros wants a change of scenery and both know that his future is far from Villarreal.

Interest from English and Spanish Clubs

In England, he has always been liked and clubs like West Bromwich Albion and Coventry City have shown interest in his situation. The English second division is a good showcase and destination for his offensive and fast football. As for the Spanish league, Las Palmas and Rayo Vallecano are also keeping an eye on the Marbella player and are undoubtedly two very attractive destinations.

Potential Opportunities in Spain and Abroad

In the Canary team, he could also coincide with Sandro Ramírez, with whom he shared a dressing room in Malaga. Rayo is a consolidated project in the First Division and therefore, also an interesting destination. Finally, there are two other options, the Spanish Second Division, where almost all teams would be delighted to have Ontiveros, or an adventure outside of Spain to an exotic league. In the coming months, the Marbella winger will have time to decide which destination to choose, with the aim of accepting a project that allows him to take command, showing that he still has a lot of football in his boots.
