Marbella City Council Launches Public Tender for Waste Container Maintenance

The Marbella City Council has launched a public tender worth over five million euros to find a company that will handle the “maintenance and cleaning” of side-loading waste containers. These containers are specifically for non-recyclable waste. The contract will be for five years, with an option to extend for an additional year.

Multi-Million Euro Contract for Waste Management

This new multi-million euro contract is being launched by the Marbella City Council’s Cleaning Department, this time for just over five and a half million euros. The aim is to hire a service for the “maintenance and cleaning of side-loading waste containers installed within the municipal area”.

Focus on Non-Recyclable Waste Containers

The waste containers in question are the usual ones where waste is deposited once recyclables (paper, cardboard, glass, plastic, etc.) have been separated. The contract is planned for five years (four plus one extension) for a total tender amount of 5,649,952 euros. The first four years are valued at 4,456,144 euros and if the extension is executed, it would be an additional 1,193,808 euros.

Comprehensive Maintenance and Cleaning Service

The tender includes a comprehensive maintenance service in two aspects: preventive and corrective. At least 2% of the annual contract value (excluding VAT) will be for replacements due to breakages caused by misuse, vandalism, accidents or other causes. It also includes the cleaning of containers, which for the interior part, should be done every fortnight.

Increased Cleaning Frequency in Summer

Regarding the exterior, cleaning will be more frequent in the summer months (from June to September) and only once a month for the rest of the year. It also states that all containers at the location in question must be cleaned on the outside, with a more thorough cleaning of the non-recyclable waste containers. In addition, the cleaning of the ground where the containers are located, approximately half a meter from the surrounding area, will be included.

Deadline for Tender Submission

The deadline for submitting bids is March 27.
