Marbella City Council and Hidralia Undertake Drainage Improvement Works

The Marbella City Council and the concessionaire Hidralia are carrying out works to improve the drainage around the Gabriel Lima and Manuel Haro roundabouts (also known as the source of the boats). The aim is to prevent flooding during heavy rains and to increase road safety. These are busy areas where significant amounts of water tend to accumulate during heavy rainfall, posing a danger to pedestrians and vehicles.

Three and a Half Month Project to Reform a Total Area of 6,970 Square Meters

The intervention, which has an execution period of three and a half months, will allow the reform of a total area of 6,970 square meters. The urban drainage will be improved by increasing the high-capacity catchers. For years, there have been problems with runoff collection due to a deficit of storm drains, which in some cases are connected to sewage networks.

Replacement of Storm Drains and Collector at Manuel Haro Roundabout

To address these deficiencies, the storm drains and the collector located next to the curbs at the Manuel Haro roundabout will be replaced with grates and new elements. On José Manuel Vallés Avenue, two high-capacity grates will be installed, and a similar one will be installed on Zinc Street.

Renovation of Rainwater Network on Severo Ochoa

On the other hand, the rainwater network on Severo Ochoa will be renewed, with more catchers and wells. At the Gabriel Lima roundabout, the existing storm drains will be reinforced in addition to adding large-capacity sewers. All the new collectors will be directly connected to the Arroyo Segundo channeling.

Hidralia Manager Highlights Public-Private Collaboration

Fulgencio Díaz, the manager of Hidralia, the concessionaire company of the sewerage network, has pointed out that the works will “eliminate a significant problem in this part of the city”. He highlighted the “public-private collaboration to successfully solve different incidents that occur in a city”.
