Flamenco Event at Peña Flamenca Sierra Blanca in Marbella
This Monday, a meeting is set to take place at the Peña Flamenca Sierra Blanca in Marbella. Over 600 students from 5th and 6th grade of ten schools in the municipality will participate throughout the week in flamenco dissemination sessions. These sessions are organized by the Marbella City Council in celebration of Andalusia Day and will be held at the Peña Flamenca Sierra Blanca.
Marbella’s General Director of Education Speaks on the Event
Carmen Díaz, the General Director of Education in Marbella, explained that this is a proposal that has been developing for years. Initially, it was held in the theater, but since the pandemic, they believe that the best space is the Peña Flamenca Sierra Blanca. The unique atmosphere and environment allow students to feel a greater connection with the genre.
Program Details and Local Artist Participation
Díaz specified that the program will take place from Monday to Friday, with two daily sessions at 11:00 and 12:00, featuring various local artists. It is aimed at upper primary school students, as this is the ideal age for them to approach the different styles of flamenco in a more serious manner and start appreciating this important culture.
Flamenco: A Recognized Cultural Heritage
Díaz reminded that in 2010, UNESCO included flamenco in its representative list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, recognizing it as the most representative and rich music of our country.
