Luis Ángel Maté, a cyclist from Marbella, has announced his upcoming races after starting the season on a high note at the AlUla Tour in Saudi Arabia. The Euskaltel-Euskadi cyclist will compete in four races in southern Spain.

Maté’s Upcoming Races in Murcia, Almería, and Jaén

Maté will participate in three one-day classic races in Murcia, Almería, and Jaén. He will also compete in the Vuelta a Andalucía. Maté is looking forward to his final season as a professional cyclist, and in the coming days, he will have the opportunity to bid farewell to his home race, the Vuelta a Andalucía.

Maté’s Journey from the Saudi Arabian Desert to Spanish Classics

Before the Vuelta a Andalucía, Maté will compete in three consecutive classics, following his stint in the Saudi Arabian desert at the AlUla Tour. On Saturday, February 10, the Marbella cyclist will participate in the Vuelta a la Región de Murcia Costa Cálida, a 199-kilometer race. Maté achieved fourth place in this race in 2014, when he was part of the French team Cofidis.

After these one-day races, Maté will join the Euskaltel-Euskadi team for the Vuelta a Andalucía. This is a home race for Maté, where he made his professional debut in February 2008 as part of the Andalucía-Cajasur team. It’s a race that has always been among his favorites, and he won the mountain classification in 2012 and 2021. The race will consist of five stages, from Wednesday, February 14 to Sunday, February 18. The final stage will start from Benahavís and conclude in La Línea de la Concepción.
