Marbella’s own Cristian Benítez from CA Marbella del Sol emerged victorious at the XXXII edition of the Cross de San Pedro Alcántara this past weekend. The men’s podium was completed by Juan Miguel Caravaca and José Manuel Baena.

Las Medranas Park Hosts Another Edition of Cross de San Pedro Alcántara

Las Medranas Park once again played host to the Cross de San Pedro Alcántara this weekend. This XXXII edition of the race shifted its usual January date to April, yet still managed to attract 250 runners. The most surprising aspect was the absence of runners for the senior women’s race. The highlight of the day was Cristian Benítez from Club Atletismo Marbella del Sol, who completed the 7.5-kilometer course in 27 minutes and 32 seconds. The overall category podium was completed by Juan Miguel Caravaca from CA Estepona and José Manuel Baena from Atletismo Cártama Trail.

Results from Other Categories

As for the other categories, the competition kicked off with the sub-18, sub-20, and Masters in the men’s category. The fastest in this 5.5-kilometer series was Reda Dira from Atletismo Cártama Trail with a time of 18:44, winning in the sub-20 category. In the sub-18 category, the victory went to Daniel Rubiales from Cueva de Nerja, while the Masters winners included David Lares, Rafael Parra, Juan Moreno, José Antonio Mora, Cristóbal Almagro, and Antonio Durán.

Women’s Category Winners

In the women’s category, over a 4,000-meter course, the winners were Alisa Sushch, Ana Mei Morales, Rocío Gómez, Charlotte Mason, Reyes Montolio, Rosa Rodríguez, Carmen Lara, and Ana Pérez.

Young Runners Shine in Lower Categories

The event also gathered a significant number of runners from lower categories. The sub-8 victory went to Olivia Mason and Matías Alaminos, while the sub-10 winners were Olivia Arbuthnott and Xabier Romero from Infinity Marbella. Iris Illanes and Óscar Repullo won in the sub-12 category, while Olivia Roberts and Jairo Lara triumphed in the sub-14 category. The sub-16 victory went to local runner Lucía Beltrán from San Pedro Atletismo and Riyad Hadas from CD Triatlón Coín.
