Mayor Denies Responsibility for Flooding at Newly Inaugurated Facility

The Mayor of Marbella, Ángeles Muñoz, has denied responsibility for the flooding that occurred at the newly inaugurated Triple A facilities. On March 4, she praised the facilities for their “highest standards of quality”. However, just five days later, the facilities were flooded due to heavy rain. The mayor has deflected blame for the incident, stating that discussions will be held with the construction company.

Mayor Reluctant to Provide Detailed Explanation

The mayor seemed reluctant to provide a detailed explanation about the incident this morning. She quickly dismissed the questions posed to her, stating, “There was significant rainfall and the works are under warranty. We will speak with the company and take appropriate measures.” She added that the technicians will work with the company to determine immediate improvements and claims on behalf of the City Council.

Mayor Assures Measures Will Be Taken to Prevent Recurrence

Muñoz further stated that the facility was commissioned very recently and there is no problem in implementing all measures to prevent such an incident from happening again. However, she was not willing to provide further explanations or assume any responsibility.

Facility Inaugurated with High Praise, Flooded Within Days

On Monday, March 4, the mayor visited the Triple A facilities for their inauguration, praising them for their “highest standards of quality”. Just five days later, the animal shelter was flooded due to heavy rain, despite warnings of deficiencies that were issued over a year ago.

Construction Overruns by Nearly 50%

As reported by Marbella24horas, the construction of the facilities exceeded the budget by 48.50%, nearly reaching the legal limit. The project, carried out by the City Council, was awarded for 1.2 million euros, but ultimately cost 1.8 million euros, with an additional 600,000 euros added to the initial budget.
