Marbella to Host Charity Walk for Children’s Oncology Association
The promotional poster for this new charity event in Marbella has been released. On April 20th, Marbella will host the third Charity Walk to benefit the Association of Volunteers for Child Oncology (AVOI). The aim this time is to take 70 children, who are under their care, on the Camino de Santiago. Around 700 participants are expected, and a variety of activities will be held.
Event Schedule and Activities
The event will start at 10:00 am for children and at 11:15 am for adults, on Mar Avenue. The day will also include fun activities for all attendees at the Alameda Walk. Children’s activities will begin around 12:15 pm, featuring Mimosín and magic shows, as well as a Disney music show by María del Carmen Medina. In the afternoon, around 5:00 pm, musical performances for adults will begin, and at the same time, there will be workshops for children.
Details of the Charity Walk
Regarding the walks that kick off the day, the children’s walk will head towards Malaga and the adults’ walk will be in the opposite direction, covering a total of five kilometers. Lisandro Vieytes, the Sports Councilor, highlighted that “the combination of sport and charity is perfect for a city like Marbella, which always supports these types of charity events, as is the case with the ‘Pink Tide’, which also starts on Mar Avenue.”
Appreciation for the Event Organizers
Vieytes thanked Pepe Guerra for his involvement in organizing an initiative that, in addition to the Veterans Sports Club of Cultural and Infinity Marbella, involves other entities from both the sports area and other fields. This includes the International Police Association IPA Marbella, which will show children how they carry out their work.
Additional Activities and Performances
Among the activities, there will also be a charity bar and live performances by rock bands with ‘Los Calvin’ as the headline act, as well as being one of the event’s sponsors. At the presentation, Óscar Morillo and Álvaro Díaz, representatives of ‘Los Calvin’ and the Infinity Marbella club (responsible for the four children’s races that will be held among the different categories) were also present.
Recognition of AVOI’s Work
Guerra highlighted “the great human team behind AVOI” and their daily entertainment provided to children admitted to the Maternal and Child Hospital in Malaga. In 2017, the first AVOI fair was organized at the Alameda Walk.
