Marbella’s Grand Prix Returns for its Eleventh Edition

The Elena Benítez Sports Palace in San Pedro Alcántara will host the eleventh edition of the Marbella International Grand Prix from March 8 to 10. The event will feature the top 30 gymnasts from around the world. This competition, which first came to the municipality in 2007, is the only one of its kind held in Spain.

Event Presentation and Key Participants

The event was presented this morning with the presence of the Sports Councilor, Lisandro Vieytes, the Vice President of the Provincial Council, Juan Rosas, and the President of the Andalusian Gymnastics Federation, Ángelo Madroñal. The tournament is expected to attract over 1,000 people, including competitors, spectators, and regional clubs.

Highlights of the Grand Prix

Ángelo Madroñal highlighted that Olympic medalists, as well as reigning champions and runners-up, will be present at the event. “It’s a unique event, as evidenced by the support it receives each edition,” said the head of the Andalusian federation, who also noted that tickets for the event sold out within five days.

Additional Competitions

In addition to the Grand Prix competition, two more events will take place: the ‘Copa Base Diputación de Málaga’ National Teams Tournament and the ‘Andalucía Cup’ International Junior Competition.

History of the Marbella International Grand Prix

This is the eleventh time the Marbella International Grand Prix is being held. It had four consecutive editions from 2007 to 2010, and was revived in 2017 through 2019. The event was cancelled for a year due to the pandemic but returned in 2021 and continues to the present day.
