Reddish Sand to Enhance Marbella’s Fontanilla Beach
The Marbella City Council is contributing sand to the beaches to ensure they are in the best condition for Easter week. The governing team complains that this is a responsibility of the Government, which they are assuming at the municipal level, while they have no problem funding health centers that should be built by the Regional Government.
13,000 Tons of Sand to be Distributed
According to information released on Tuesday, 13,000 tons of sand will be distributed to various beaches that have been losing sand due to storm effects by next Friday. So far, actions have been taken on the most central beaches, La Fontanilla and El Faro, and will continue in Río Real.
Second Phase Announced for Summer
A second phase has been announced for the summer, with contributions to be made at the end of May. According to the governing team, the sand being used has all the favorable analytics and the necessary authorizations from the Coastline Department. It is noteworthy that the sand has a reddish hue, although they assure that it will eventually acquire a normal color.
Criticism from the City Council
The City Council has criticized having to undertake the reconstruction of the beaches, a responsibility that belongs to the Government of Spain. On the other hand, the Popular Party does not seem to see any problem in paying for health centers with municipal money, which should be the responsibility of the Regional Government.
Demands for Breakwaters
The opportunity has also been taken to demand breakwaters, which were not built during Mariano Rajoy’s term.
