Michelin-Starred Chef José Carlos García to Head Marbella’s Hotel Los Monteros Cuisine
José Carlos García, a renowned chef from Malaga, is set to take over the culinary helm at Marbella’s Hotel Los Monteros. García, who owns a restaurant bearing his name at Muelle Uno, previously served as an advisor for the Hotel Palacio Solecio in Malaga’s old town. His new role will see him bringing his culinary expertise to the Marbella hotel, a part of the American luxury chain Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants. The hotel is slated to reopen its doors in late February or early March.
Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants: A Growing Presence in Spain
Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants has two other establishments in Spain: Kimpton Vividora Barcelona and Kimpton Aysla Mallorca. García expressed his excitement about joining the Kimpton project, praising the fresh concept brought by many professionals. He revealed that they are working on a unique concept, unlike anything seen before on the Costa del Sol.
Hotel Los Monteros: A Gastronomic Haven Designed by García
Hotel Los Monteros will feature several gastronomic outlets designed by García. Among these is Jara, the main restaurant that will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The menu will pay homage to the rich heritage of Spanish cuisine, with a focus on local products. García described the restaurant as a casual and informal space where guests can enjoy his cuisine and experience.
Additional Culinary Spaces at Hotel Los Monteros
Other culinary spaces at the hotel include the Azul Lounge Bar, the Costa Club pool bar, and the Escondido Rooftop. The latter is a rooftop bar featuring a Californian atmosphere, an infinity pool, Mediterranean Sea views, signature cocktails, and an authentic Mexican menu with Andalusian touches. The hotel will also have a 470-metre space for conferences and events, where gastronomy will play a central role.
Hotel Los Monteros: A Legacy of Luxury and Celebrity
First opened in 1962, Hotel Los Monteros was one of the first hotels in Spain to achieve the distinction of five-star luxury. Its restaurant ‘El Corzo’ made history in Marbella by becoming the town’s first to receive a Michelin star. Over the years, the hotel has welcomed a host of celebrities, including Michael Jackson, Julio Iglesias, Lola Flores, Nobel Prize winner Camilo José Cela, and actors Sean Connery, Antonio Banderas, and Melanie Griffith.
