Del Nido Offers Marbella a Plot of Land to Settle Legal Obligations
Lawyer José María del Nido has offered a plot of land on Panadería Street, next to Los Naranjos square, to the Marbella City Council. This offer is part of his attempt to meet some of his civil liability in the so-called Fergocon case, one of the many legal proceedings from the Gil era. According to the City Council, the plot has been valued at just over 500,000 euros.
The Fergocon Case and Its Consequences
The Fergocon case has had a firm sentence since 2017, which convicted, among others, lawyer and former president of Sevilla, José María del Nido, and former mayor of Marbella, Julián Muñoz. The reason for the conviction was irregularities in contract work from the City Council in 2001 and 2002 with the company Fergocon, linked to Del Nido’s family. The outstanding liability was 212,008.66 euros plus another 299,060.75 euros (511,149.41 euros in total).
Details of the Offered Plot
To meet this payment, José María del Nido has offered the City Council a plot located on Panadería Street in Marbella, according to documentation accessed by Marbella24horas. It is an unbuilt plot of 149 square meters, as recorded in the Land Registry, and is walled and beautified with potted plants.
Ownership and Value of the Plot
The land, located in the heart of the Old Town, has been owned by the company Fergocon since 2002. In the last plenary session, it was agreed that it would not be used to pay off the debt with Social Security and the Treasury. The Councilor for Finance, Félix Romero, stated that Marbella was incorporating a property valued at just over half a million euros.
Controversy Over the Property
From the PSOE, Councilor Adrián Jiménez warned that this property is a “public square” in the PGOU of 1986. “Let’s see if in the end we are going to reduce the amount to the executed and the plot is municipally owned,” he added.
