End of Holy Week Celebrations in San Pedro Alcántara
Some members of the band were positioned on the side of the Church of San Pedro Alcántara. The Holy Week in San Pedro Alcántara concluded this Sunday with a small concert. The San Lorenzo Mártir Musical Group from Málaga performed five processional marches in front of the Risen Christ inside the church. Despite the rain playing a significant role, three out of the five planned parades were able to proceed.
Cancellation of the Procession
The Brotherhood of Our Father Jesus Nazarene and the Virgin of Solitude cancelled the procession scheduled for this Sunday, which was supposed to mark the end of the Holy Week 2024 in San Pedro Alcántara. Instead, a small concert was held after the mass, where five processional marches were performed inside the church in front of the Risen Christ.
Accommodating the Musical Group
It was somewhat challenging to accommodate the 80 members of the San Lorenzo Mártir Musical Group from Málaga in the church, but they were eventually able to perform their music from one side. This band has been parading the streets of San Pedro Alcántara on Resurrection Sunday for several years.
Conclusion of the Holy Week
Thus, the Holy Week in San Pedro Alcántara concluded indoors due to the rain. The brotherhood, which usually organizes five processions with seven thrones, was unable to complete all of them this time. The Pollinica procession took place on Palm Sunday, followed by the Nazarene and Dolores and then the Silence, both on Holy Thursday. Due to the rain, the Yacente and Solitude procession on Good Friday and the Resurrected procession on Sunday had to be cancelled.
